Antoinette M. Machiya

Antoinette M. Machiya is a financial services executive, innovation leader and inclusive finance strategist with over 17 years of experience spanning banking, telecommunications and digital financial services across Sub-Saharan Africa. She has held senior leadership roles with full P&L accountability at one of Zambia's leading commercial banks, delivering transformational growth across payments, digital banking, cards, merchant acquiring and financial inclusion.

As the founding lead of Absa Bank Zambia's first Innovation Hub, Antoinette established a platform that connected the bank with fintechs, startups and ecosystem partners to accelerate innovation, digital transformation and new business models. She also led Absa's partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry to support Zambian startups representing the country at Expo 2020 Dubai, providing executive coaching, investor readiness, business mentorship and strategic guidance. In addition, she has contributed to Zambia's innovation ecosystem as both a startup judge and Masterclass facilitator for ZICTA's innovation programmes, mentoring entrepreneurs in digital payments, business strategy, financial readiness, innovation and business growth.

Today, as Founder and Managing Director of Roan Advisory, Antoinette partners with financial institutions, fintechs, development finance institutions, governments and development organisations to strengthen institutional performance, accelerate digital transformation and advance inclusive financial systems across Africa. Her work bridges strategy and execution, combining boardroom experience with hands-on implementation to help organisations deliver sustainable, measurable impact.

Antoinette has completed executive education in Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance at Harvard Business School, is a CIMA/CGMA-qualified Management Accountant (UK), a Certified Digital Finance Practitioner from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and holds a Master's in Agribusiness Management from Rome Business School.
